Biesbosch

A short distance from Willemstad, you will be travelling into the natural beauty of the Biesbosch. The many streams, ditches and canals in the nature park make it a true voyage of discovery through unspoilt and authentic Dutch nature. It must have been like this many centuries ago in this beautiful catchment area!
The beaver, hundreds of bird species, including the sea eagle, and countless plants and fish are home to this green beauty. And you can experience all this from the comfort of your own luxury motor yacht.
The many jetties and beautiful anchorages make a stay of several days in De Biesbosch Nature Park a real adventure. The silence is almost overwhelming as the light slowly fades behind the trees and you are left alone.

Sail a few hours further and you can enjoy another beautiful old fortified town: Heusden is just a short boat trip further up the river. This way you can not only enjoy nature, but also grab a nice terrace and take a lovely stroll through the historic centre.

There are many ways to return home: Take a tour of the river country, take a short boat trip on the Kil for a visit to the old town of Dordrecht or enjoy the peace and relaxation in small marinas such as those of Lage Zwaluwe, Strijen Sas (a beautiful old lock keeps the water away from the polder here) and Numansdorp.

Willemstad

The fortified town of Willemstad spoils its visitors with a special combination of historical and culinary hospitality with numerous nice restaurants. Particularly interesting in terms of cultural history: the Mauritshuis, the Koepelkerk, the old town hall and the fortifications surrounding the city. And challenging through the rugged landscape, for example around the Hollandsch Diep. The marina provides a perfect base for your cruise.

Drimmelen

Because the beautiful nature of the Biesbosch invites many people to stay longer, we choose a destination that is not too far away from all this beauty. Today, we cross the provincial border and land in Drimmelen. A beautiful and modern marina on the edge of the Biesbosch.

Biesbosch (anchorage)

Today, we'll be spending the night aboard our own yacht in the middle of the nature of the beautiful Biesbosch. We are really free to roam here, as long as we do not stay in the same place for more than three nights. The view of the willow groves and green banks, the peace and quiet of nature make for a wonderful night's sleep. The Biesbosch is a large area with tidal differences, so shallows, currents and some longer distances have to be taken into account.

Heusden

For the typical "hospitality of Brabant", we are on our way to Heusden.Passing under the bridge in our own boat, we are surrounded by the historic inner harbour. Just like the home port of Willemstad, Heusden is an old fortress town, we imagine ourselves many centuries back in time. The fortress history of Heusden can be felt in almost every street and stone. Besides nice shops and nice restaurants and Fort Heusden there are also many art galleries. Climb the fortifications and spend a nice day.

Biesbosch (mooring docks)

Along the banks in De Biesbosch, you will find various mooring places and jetties. We can moor here during our cruise to go ashore for a walk or a picnic, for example. The map of the Biesbosch National Park area clearly shows where you can and cannot sail, which creeks are only accessible to smaller boats (canoes and rowing boats).

Lage Zwaluwe

The "front garden" of nature reserve De Biesbosch. This versatile area is perfect for a nice cycling or walking tour. You will be amazed at the great differences in the landscape in an area of 10 by 20 kilometres. In the rural surroundings you can do so-called farm shopping, visit a tasty cheese farm or buy your fruit and vegetables from the farmer.

Strijensas

We moor in the small but cosy harbour of Strijen Sas. This small harbour is again on the island of Hoekse Waard and has a beautiful old lock ("Sas") where the small flat-bottomed boats used to transport all the agricultural goods from the polder. On our last day, it is only a modest distance home. So we have all the time we need to enjoy this last day of sailing at leisure.

Numansdorp

We stop in the cosy village of Numansdorp. A small village on the north side of Hollands Diep. This small village harbour is not far from Willemstad, so you have plenty of time to enjoy your last day at leisure. Take a long walk, a bike ride or find the cosy terrace of the restaurant located directly at the harbour.
